It was brought to my attention the other day that my slogo “breaking the binds of ordinary design” may actually have an industry relavence. I am a genious like that. It was not ment to infact have any relavence in the industry but I am glad it does.

personal meaning: in norse mythology there is a wolf named Garm who is bound with magic thread forged by trolls. He is bound because he is so powerful and an influential player in the end of the world. The gods believe that by binding him they will prevent the end of the world, however they cannot. The end starts anyways and Garm breaks free of his bonds. In graphic design there is a standard that you need to meet, I intend to break past it.

industry meaning: paper is called bond, and when you design a book/catologue it has to be bound (the process is binding)

when I was coming up with that phrase, I didnt even clue into that hidden meaning. Im amazing.

The move went fairly smooth. Or rather, as smooth as a 26 hour train ride can be. I’ve been littering the city with my resume, and portfolio. Hopefully I hear back soon. Otherwise I have been in contact with someone regarding outsourced graphic design work. Hopefully they do not find my prices too outrageous and are willing to work with me. On the flip side, I could always just get a part time job and then start moonGarm graphic design as its own business.

This wednesday is a women’s entrepreneur meeting that I hope to attend. Take many little folio’s etc. Maybe I will have business cards by then.

moonGarm graphic design is leaving Ottawa in 11 days, the count down has started. I will be arriving back in Halifax on the 24th and what a glorious day it will be. Not long after that I will either have to secure a job or launch moonGarm graphic design, as its own studio. And although that is the long term goal (w00t! go long term goals!) I would like to have far more experience working with other designers *cough* stealing mad skills *cough* and learning more about the industry from real live people. You can never know too much.

Before the 11 days are up, I will be updating moonGarm.com to include the new logo, as well! I have finally thought of my catchy one liner that will bring me in the <strike>big bucks</strike> valuable clients. I bet you would just LOVE to know what it is huh? Tough. You will have to wait and visit the website.

Starting in the spring moonGarm graphic design will also be offering prints of paintings, postcards, and hand bound books (inspired by a present I recieved from a friend some 5 years ago) for sale.
